Now (Book)

Composed of metal and wood types set by hand one character at a time, this accordion-fold book examines the story type tells when it’s treated as imagery.

Each book was created from one single sheet, with each printed layer of type designed in reaction to the previous — an exercise in spontaneity and the catharsis of being fully present in the moment. The sheet was then trimmed into 3 parts and re-composed into pages sequenced to visually conveythe beginning, middle, and end of the “call and response” dialog between the author and the letterforms.

Designed & letterpress printed on 100% cotton paper by Amy Redmond using wood type, metal type, and elements cut from re-purposed photopolymer plates on a Colt’s Armory platen press. Hand-bound in an edition of 3.
